Fragile Sanctuary by Catherine Cowles

โถ 5/5
Fragile Sanctuary, the first book in Catherine Cowles' new series Sparrow Falls, is an absolute delight. Each of Cowlesโ books keeps getting better, and this one raises the bar. The mix of romance and suspense is spot on, and I loved every bit of it.
Catherine Cowles books are perfect for those who love "Criminal Minds" and romance novels. I absolutely love that she can keep me on my toes, and it adds a layer as you try to solve the mystery alongside the characters. She really nailed it with a grumpy, protective ex-profiler as the hero.
The hero, Anson, is a former profiler now working in construction in Sparrow Falls with Rhodes brother. Anson and Rhodes initial meeting is rocky; he mistakes her for an intruder on the property he's inspecting, unaware that she owns it. His gruff demeanour and reserved nature make it difficult for them to connect at first. However, as they spend more time together, they find common ground. When Rho's safety is threatened, Anson's protective instincts kick in.
Their shared journey of healing is heartwarming, enhanced by the book's memorable side characters. Lolli, the unabashedly open diamond art enthusiast grandma, and Biscuit, the lovable rescue dog, add depth and charm. Anson's profiling skills and innate protectiveness make for an engaging read. This novel is a gem, and I'm eagerly anticipating the next instalments in the series. I can't wait to revisit these characters and explore more of this enchanting small town.
Thank you to Catherine Cowles for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.
