Elsie's new book, Wild Love, hits the shelves hot on the heels of the success of Chestnut Springs. Set in the idyllic Rose Hill, Ford Grant finds his life upended when a young girl claims to be his daughter on his doorstep. Complicating matters further, his longtime love, Rosie Belmont, reappears in town, adding layers of complexity to his world.
This was one of my most anticipated reads of the year, but the main characters lacked chemistry and I often preferred the Rosie and Ford when they werenโt together. The plot? Meh. Not much happens besides Ford hiring Rosie to work for him. And don't even get me started on Rosie still being tied up in another relationship for, like, 40% of the book. It's just weird. We all wanted to see more time for Ford and Rosie to actually connect, not swim around in murky waters with her relationship status.
The introduction of Rose Hill's single fathers adds a delightful twist, with readers enjoying the speculation about potential romantic pairings.Trying to guess who might end up falling in love is like a little game within the story. And can we talk about the dads bowling together and having their epic 'Dad's Night Out'? Pure gold.
Overall, while Wild Love might have its flaws, I am still super excited for this series as a whole. Wild Eyes is next and I already have its release date marked in my calendar, and you should too!
Thank you to Elsie Silver and Periwinkle Pony for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.
